OCD L.L.C. offers coaching and personal and professional development. The purpose of the company is to provide coaching services to those who are willing to improve their performances, succeed in achieving an important change, stand back from their perspectives, improve their life balance, and reach their true potential.
- What are your activities?
OCD L.L.C. offers coaching sessions in French and English, in person or over the phone, both for individual or companies.
OCD clients are most of the time confronted to changing situations, professionally (new job, organization, adaptation), or personally (expatriation, separation, ..). They have the desire to redefine and reevaluate their priorities and objectives and to work on the gap and obstacles between what they want to achieve and where they are right now.
In the corporate environment, OCD L.L.C. offers individual and team coaching sessions. In companies, the coaching process enables to bring new ideas in helping people to think outside the box, improve dramatically the internal communication and the performances of the company.
We use the assessment “Energy Leadership” , a fantastic tool designed to identify with what type of energy we respond to various situations in life and to work on our gaps.
- Do you mostly work in the Miami or Orlando area ?
The “in person” part of the activity is in Miami or Florida. As coaching sessions can be conducted over the phone, the company can have clients all over the world.
With more than 18 years as an executive in large international companies, Odile Carru has a diversified experience in communications, marketing and sales. As Director of communications, she led transversal projects on change management and worked with very different people, from executives to managers and team members. She has a very good knowledge of how people interact and the main communication issues in complex and changing environments. With all that, She really has the ability and the proficiency to help very different types of people in transition.
- What do you offer specifically to expatriates in transition?
Coaching facilitates the change process in helping clients to use their own resources and be more aware of their strengths in order to succeed. This is exactly what an expatriate has to face and is confronted to: confusion, feeling of loneliness and being far from family and friends. For the “follower” in a couple, if they are not really prepared, they can have the negative feeling of having being obliged to change. The fact of not having a personal project can enhance this feeling, and the risk is that they will only have a negative vision of their new life. Those feelings are totally normal. Coaching helps people in this type of situation to step back, release their negative feelings, change their visions and find opportunities in their new environment. For that reason, expatriation also very often creates tensions in the couple. In that area, coaching help couples in their communication which is important for the success of the move. It is essential that everyone in the family feels ok and comfortable in the new environment.

Individual and team coaching in various aspects of the corporate life: communications, team building, management issues.
- What are the main challenges that a french family has to face when arriving to Miami or Orlando?
At the beginning, the main challenge is to find places of conviviality. Miami is not big, but most of the transportation is by car, and that can create a feeling of loneliness. The solution is to be really proactive, join associations, fitness clubs, and meet other parents in shools. The French network is important and after a little while it is very easy to socialize.
-What are the main advantages of Miami/Orlando compared to other cities for those who want to live or create their business ?
Compared to cities like NY or LA, find an affordable home is possible in Miami, and specially now with the real estate market decrease, there are opportunities for those who want to buy a house.
Miami is on the east coast and only takes 10 hours to fly to Europe, with only 6 hours of jet lag …this is a real plus that someone has to keep in mind when ready to move to the US.
Miami is an international place to live in, where everyone can easily communicate in Spanish and English. It is not necessary to speak like Shakespeare to communicate in English.
Last but not least, people are nice in Miami, have an ongoing communication and jovial. If you are open minded and willing to communicate, people will easily talk with you.
-What is the day to day atmosphere in Miami ?
The quality of life : the exceptionnal weather all year long, even if sometimes too hot during the summer, South Beach, vegetation, everglades, keys..Florida is a paradise for those who love nature. There is very few pollution and the air quality is excellent. Culturally speaking, Miami offers theaters, art galleries, restaurants, shops, great malls, and cool shopping places like Sunset place (most french people like the atmosphere). Cocowalk, more touristic is also very nice. Traffic is relatively easy, at least for an old parisian like me…
- What differentiates your company from your main competitors ?
Coaching is a relatively new type of services; the number of competitors is not very high, as the number of coaches speaking French. The main advantage of OCD L.L.C. is its professional approach and its dedication to help its clients achieve tangible and long term results.
