Impatriates,
Foreigners, here are the questions you
should consider before going to settle in
France.
To face and solve the shortage of
skilled workforce in the country, many
French companies settled in France use
impatriation by recruiting foreigned
salaried employees . Nevertheless, it's
not easy to take the necessary steps
because when you except the different
administative problems you have to face
when preparing your expatriation such as
the resident permit or work permit, the
removal, your obligations and rights
abroad , you have still to face the
linguistic and cultural barrier and mainly
the working habits. You will have to
consider all these points before embarking
on the adventure !
Though France is renowned for being one of
the best welcoming country by offering
very attractive conditions to those who
chose to settle and work on its territory
, even so, many points have to be
considered before your departure. For
sure, the social security system is very
attractive as well as the tax system
thanks to the 2008 modernization law. This
new tax policy is aimed to offer very
interesting tax exemptions to the
impatriates or social foreign agents whose
professionnal activity will be with a
French company settled in France. Thus,
they benefit from one of the most
favourable tax system in Europe and that's
why it makes the country one of the first
destination for international investment.
These employed salaried foreigners can be
exempted from any tax on their additional
income earned by their activity on the
French territory (up to 50% of their
income).
The big concern about impatriation is,
nevertheless, the language barrier, the
cultural gap the problems concerning the
family reunification and the working
habits. In fact, the ways of acting and
behaving are so different from one country
to another that the worker needs to have a
good capacity to adapt. Except the
problems the foreigners , not belonging to
the EU, or not having yet an employee
status , will get for entering and staying
in the country, they will have problems
for finding accomodation because they need
to exhibit a payslip. The entry on the
French territory is subject to the
resident permit delivered by the French
Consular Authorities of the country of
residence and to a valid passport expired
three months after the end of the
stay.
